Attention seniors attending WVU in the Fall, the Rosalyn Fleming Heironimus Memorial Scholarship is now available.
This endowment shall provide scholarships for graduates of Grafton High School, or its successor, who are undergraduate students enrolled as freshmen at WVU. Recipients shall demonstrate academic promise, by achieving a GPA of 3.0, and financial need. Recipients shall be determined by a committee from Grafton High School, and the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid.
Funds shall be awarded in memory of Rosalyn Fleming Heironimus.
This scholarship is awarded as a book scholarship that can only be utilized to purchase books from the WVU Bookstore. It is worth $500 and will be automatically awarded on your WVU account if you are selected as the recipient.
APPLICATION AVAILABLE ON TEAMS. Please turn them into Mrs. Himes by 2/9 at Noon.

FRESHMEN AND INTERESTED SOPHOMORES: Please remember to turn in your permission forms to attend the United Technical Center. It was sent out on TEAMS and Livegrades if you need a copy. They are due by Friday.

January 30th at 7:30 the Lady Cats Basketball team will host North Marion. It is Taylor County Alley Cats Youth Night. Come support your Bearcats!


The 2024 Varsity Ball games will be those played on February 14th. JV begins at 5:45 and Varsity starts at 7:30.
Looking for a Valentines dinner date? Bring your special someone out to try some of the best chili at the YLA Chili Cookoff from 5:30 - 7:30.


For students who have failed a course required to graduate:
GHS offers the afterschool credit recovery program. Attached is the information for the second semester. Paper applications will be available on Monday.
If you have failed a course that you need to graduate, you must come see your counselor to get a credit recovery application. All students that fail to complete credit recovery this semester or in summer school will have the failed course placed back in their schedule in the Fall of 2024.

IMPORTANT: Each year the counseling department takes a field trip to the United Technical Center for ALL 9th grade students. There will be two trips this year.
Students with last names A-L will attend from 8:00 am - 11:30 am on 02/08.
Students with last names M-Z will attend from 8:00 am - 11:30 am on 02/09.
ALL 9th grade students must bring back the permission form given to them today signed by their parent/guardian in order to be eligible to attend. This field trip is important to exploring technical career opportunities available for GHS students. Please be sure to ask your 9th grade students about the form that was given out today. It was also sent out on Livegrades and posted on their class TEAMS.
Any interested Sopohomores who would like to attend must come see their counselor to obtain a permission form packet.


Varsity Ball is coming to GHS soon! It will be $5 admission to the dance. The dance will be from 7:00 - 10:00 pm. Reminder that this is a semi-formal dance. We look forward to seeing you there!


If you are interested in registering for the YLA Chili Cookoff, it will be held on February 14th at GHS. If you aren't the chili cooking type, join us to enjoy some wonderful chili and vote on your favorite!


The 2024 National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be held next Friday afternoon, February 2, 2024. Printed invitations were distributed to new and returning NTHS members this morning during the AA Auditorium meeting.

Class of 2024: The Sam Bord Memorial Scholarship is now available on TEAMS. There will also be hard copies available in the counseling office.

Due to an electrical issue in the building, Taylor County Middle School will be CLOSED today to students. Staff are to report. All other schools in Taylor County are open as normally scheduled.


Grafton High School Students earned an award for submitting a video for the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration's (WVABCA) 11th Annual NO School Spirits Public Service Announcement Contest. GHS students created a short video while learning about rhetorical appeals, appealing to an audience with emotions, logic, and facts. The students earned fifth place out of 67 video entries. Their video was titled "Drunk Driving Killed My..."
A representative from the WVABCA will be at GHS on Tuesday, January 30th to speak to the winning group.
