This week we celebrated National School Counseling Week. The theme was “School Counselors Amplify Student Success.” Monday’s encouragement was that School Counselors help students set goals, stay motivated and find strategies that work for them. Tuesday’s inspirational thought was that when students shine our whole community shines, so visit the School Counselor to discuss your talents and dreams because your growth matters! Wednesday’s reminder was that the School Counseling program at Anna Jarvis is positive and inclusive where everyone should feel valued and supported through individual counseling, small groups and/or classroom guidance. On Thursday and Friday, students were encouraged that Teachers, Staff, Administrators, their School Counselor and many trusted adults outside of our school are all working together to offer them support and tackle challenges with them. We are all pulling for them to accomplish amazing things! Thank you all for celebrating School Counseling with me this week. I especially appreciated all the words of encouragement from the students and my colleagues, along with the hugs, cards and pictures that you made for me. It is a privilege to be your School Counselor. My job at Anna Jarvis is to “amplify student success.” Please reach out to me for support or with suggestions for how I can do that better.
